1) Go by what the doctor says. I know your sister is a nurse, but your sister was not there for the ultrasound. Plus your sister depsite her medical knowledge, does not know everything a doctor does.

2) You should be fine, as the baby, if under close supervision of your physician.
References :
Former EMT

You have nothing to worry about regarding the "cyst", hypochondria is a common side effect of pregnancy. Best of luck.
References :
Yes, I also had a cyst but for some reason it passed to my fallopian tube and was stuck there. I had it removed because my doctor said it could rupture.
The doctor also said it is common practice to just snip the tube which would have left me with one functioning tube. When I had the cyst removed I had a surgeon that specializes in tubal reverasals (he reverses when women have their tubes tied) do the surgery. After I went to the follow up and had dye ran through my tubes and they are both perfect.
My point in sharing all of this is to tell all women to fully educate themselves before taking action especially when it comes to our reporductive system.
References :
First hand experience

Every time your ovary has an ovum mature, it forms inside a cyst. The cyst is then forced to the surface of the ovary, and when it's time for you to ovulate, it will burst and send the little egg into your fallopian tube. Forming an ovulation cyst is what ovaries do, and how they function. However, sometimes the cyst gets out of hand and too large. Some ladies will form multiple cysts on both ovaries. The fact you have one doesn't necessarily mean anything, except if it is large it may cause pain. In that case, they generally don't do much except give you something for the pain and wait for it to rupture all by itself. If you continue to form large or multiple cysts, and have pain from it, then there are things they can do to help with that. But based on just one cyst, it's not really a problem that needs fixing just yet. Your cyst could well just be the usual and normal ovulation cyst that they would expect to see. You would need to discuss the matter with a gynecologist to learn more about your particular situation.
References :
nurse

My daughter delivered healthy full term twins with a cyst. The cyst grew as the babies did and was dangerous because the female hormones fed it. As soon as she gave birth it shrunk back down to the size of a walnut. She didn't have any other children and 14 years after giving birth she had a hysterectomy. She is just fine.
